MajiMagic: Unleashing the Potential of Ugandan WASH Entrepreneurs
“Maji” means water in kiswahili. And Maji IS indeed magic. It is the source of all life. But despite significant progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6—universal access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)— we still have a long way to go. We have to mobilize more awareness, more resources, more talents and more collaborations to advance WASH initiatives!
SWEP Members as Champions of the MajiMagic
At the forefront of these efforts is the Majipreneurs collaboration, that each year grows stronger and more influential. Spearheaded by a coalition of SWEP members – cewas, Young Water Solutions, and Viva con Agua – and supported by the Hilton Foundation and the Water and Sanitation Entrepreneurs Association Uganda, Majipreneurs unites Uganda’s WASH entrepreneurs with global allies to ensure the development of affordable, sustainable water and sanitation solutions for all.
Majipreneurs 2024: A Tripartite Approach to Innovation
The activities for Majipreneurs in 2024 are organized into three key axes, each designed to overcome specific barriers and foster an environment conducive to the growth of WASH enterprises: a Hackathon that drives innovation in WASH technologies and solutions, a Summit in Kampala that serves as a vital gathering for leaders and change-makers in the WASH sector and a Strengthened Alliance that aims to consolidate efforts and maximize the collective impact of these actions.
